According to reports, MANCHESTER UNITED was unable to persuade Cristiano Ronaldo to remain at Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo, a star for Manchester United, reportedly demanded that the team sever his two-year contract so he could leave this summer. Due to personal obligations, the Portuguese was absent for the majority of the Red Devils’ preseason trip in Thailand and Australia. Showdown negotiations with Erik ten Hag this week also failed to convince the Portuguese to reconsider his desire to leave Old Trafford.

Since United finished sixth in the Premier League last season, Ronaldo won’t be able to fulfill his goal of playing in the Champions League for a record 20 consecutive seasons there. Despite the veteran’s best efforts, the squad failed, and the owners fired two managers before selecting Ten Hag this summer.

Before even playing a competitive game against the Red Devils, the Dutchman faces an enormous task because club legend Ronaldo is trying to leave. On Tuesday, the Portuguese arrived at Carrington for in-person discussions with super-agent Jorge Mendes by his side. His former manager Sir Alex Ferguson also showed up at the training facility.

Ronaldo reportedly plans to carry on professionally nevertheless, and he was present on Wednesday when United crushed Wrexham 4-1 in a friendly played behind closed doors. Before the start of the preseason match, the 37-year-old participated in his first training session with Ten Hag.

The forward’s chances of playing in either of the two friendly matches against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano this weekend are extremely slim. Ronaldo could think it’s best that he doesn’t attend the latter after Manchester United supporters unveiled a sign that said, “CR7 NOT WELCOME,” after rumors that they might provide the former Real Madrid superstar with a means of escaping the city.
